Controlled document migration
Old documents in. On-brand documents out.
Move your existing Word documents into your approved company template. The source text is checked word-for-word, exceptions are flagged, and what you get back is still an editable Word file.
Or start free and convert 10 documents yourself. No card required.
What just changed?
The same document, before and after
Drag the handle. Every word is identical. Only the formatting changed.
- Every word kept, checked word-for-word
- Headings, tables and numbering rebuilt in place
- Nothing reordered, nothing dropped
Real output from the Retempla engine, not a mock-up.
What Retempla does
Upload your company template once and your old Word documents as often as you like. Retempla rebuilds each one to match your template, same words in new formatting, checked and ready to send.
Your text is never altered
Only the formatting, styling and layout change. That promise is enforced in code, on every single document.
Whole batches at a time
Upload hundreds of legacy documents at once and download them rebuilt in your current template.
Every change is audited
A confidence score and a written report for every document, evidence your QA team can file.
Who this is for
The people who inherit the document backlog when something changes.
Quality and IMS
Procedures, forms and work instructions that have to stay controlled while the template underneath them changes.
Document control
A named owner for a library of hundreds of files, and the person who gets asked why two documents look different.
Bids and proposals
Method statements and tender packs that go to a client, where the old logo on page four is the thing they notice.
Operations and brand
The team asked to roll a new identity through everything the company has ever written, by a date somebody already announced.
How a migration runs
Sample, configure, convert, review. You accept the output; we never decide that for you.
Sample
Start with a handful of documents that genuinely represent the library, including the awkward ones. That is what a realistic scope and price is built on.
Configure
Upload the Word template your documents should follow. Retempla reads its styles, numbering, cover page and approval tables.
Convert
Upload whole batches. Each document is converted on its own and scored for confidence as it completes.
Review and accept
Branded documents, with a report for every one of them. Complex or low-confidence files are flagged for a human to look at rather than passed off as finished.
Why not just reformat them by hand?
Plenty of companies do, and for ten documents that is the right answer. The problems start at a hundred.
Labour
Reformatting is slow, and it is slow again every time the template changes. Measure your own minutes per document before you decide; we would rather you had a real number than one of ours.
Repeatability
Two people reformatting the same procedure produce two different documents. A rebuild applies the same template rules to every file, in the same way, every time.
Proof the text survived
A person retyping a heading can quietly drop a clause. Every Retempla conversion is compared against the source word-for-word, and a mismatch is rejected rather than delivered.
Visible exceptions
Some documents are genuinely awkward: fixed-layout forms, embedded objects, unusual sections. Those come back flagged for review, with the reason written down, instead of silently half-converted.
Attaching a new template to an old Word file does not reliably reformat it, which is usually the point at which people start looking for something like this.
Built for people who answer to auditors
Rebrands, acquisitions, template changes and controlled-document migrations all end with someone being asked to prove nothing was lost.
Your text never changes
Every conversion is checked word-for-word against the original. A conversion that would lose or alter even a single word is rejected, not delivered with a warning. Rejected.
Confidence scores, not blind trust
Every document gets a 0 to 100 confidence score. Anything below 70 is flagged for human review, clearly, in your results and in that document's report. Flagged, never hidden.
A full audit trail
A report records what happened to every document, and an append-only log records every upload, conversion, download and deletion on your account.
Your files do not linger
Uploaded and converted files are deleted automatically after 30 days, and every deletion is logged. Delete your account and everything goes immediately. Read the full security page.

Frequently asked questions
What happens to low-confidence documents? +
They still convert, and you can still download them. Any document scoring below 70, or flagged for review by the engine, gets a clear amber "needs human review" marker in your results and in its report, so your team knows exactly which files to check. The only thing we refuse outright is a conversion that would change your text: that is rejected rather than delivered.
What file types do you support? +
.docx only. Legacy .doc files are rejected with a message asking you to re-save them as .docx. We also refuse encrypted files and documents with unresolved tracked changes, because converting those could misrepresent your text.
Where is our data held, and are you GDPR compliant? +
We operate under UK GDPR. Your documents are stored for a maximum of 30 days and then deleted automatically. You can also delete them (or your whole account) at any time. Our privacy policy lists every subprocessor we use and what each one sees. You own your documents; we process them only to perform the conversion you asked for, and never for anything else.
How big a library can you take on? +
Self-serve suits a few hundred documents against one template. Above that, or where several template families have to converge after a merger, it is worth booking an assessment so the work is sampled and scoped properly before anyone commits to a date.
Documents aligned. Work moving.
